Dan Diesel comes from a family of law enforcement officers.  However, to earn extra money in high school, he drove a bobtail truck for his great-uncle Mickey’s fresh produce company. Unfortunately, Diesel spent so much of his time, lost in Manhattan, his on-time deliveries suffered and Uncle Mickey lost quite a lot of business.

While Dan had decided to pursue the same career as his father, uncles and grandfather, he went through the New York Police Department’s Police Academy and, after finally graduating, he soon grew tired of walking a beat.  He also had to deal with chronic pain from flat feet, which also led to his leaving the police force.

After attending the Brooklyn Institute of Private Investigation for 12 months, he began working for a small firm of private investigators – Plane Close, Private Investigations. However, when most of his assignments included domestic surveillance and investigations of suspected infidelities, he once again found himself searching for something more challenging and, ultimately, more rewarding.

Acknowledging he’s not always the most agile of private investigators but denying he’s the dullest tack in the box, Diesel doggedly continued working as a private eye, always seeking cases that would put his natural abilities to the test.

About five years ago, he was offered the opportunity to combine his investigative expertise with his previous behind-the-wheel experience.  As he put it, “Somebody needed to track down best practices when it comes to safety over the road and I was just the guy to do it.”

Since that time, Diesel has toured the country, talking to scores of people involved in all aspects of the transportation industry. Now he’s working with PT, a veteran driver-trainer and safety director, gathering information about safety habits that can be practiced by professional drivers around the country.  He’s also become a student, of sorts, going through a refresher course about professional driving skills.

About his search for the safest methods for professional drivers, Diesel said, “My goal is to get every driver home safely after every trip - that’s why I take my job so seriously. I’m committed to making a difference in the lives of hard working drivers everywhere.  Oh sure, sometimes I may chase information down a dead end street, but I’m committed to keeping every driver out there safe.”
